0:20Introduction
Welcome, this is Terry Ewell. There are triplet indications given in the first measure of Study #14. Although they are not printed throughout the music, they continue for the entire study. In this study, avoid accenting the beats. Instead, bring out longer musical phrases. Play the study as a melody rather than as a series of accented beats. The study provides no dynamic markings beyond the opening poco F, which literally means "a little loud." I have added additional dynamic markings to provide greater musical expression. Feel free to use them if you find them helpful.

1:18Reflection
> "...who do you say that I am?" > — Jesus (NKJV, Mark 8:29) This is arguably the most important question you will answer in your life. Your response determines how you understand and accept Jesus' teaching and life mission. Jesus was the most influential person who has ever lived. Our annual calendar commemorates the date of His birth. Consider how many books have been written in His honor. Many languages established their written alphabets and first dictionaries through the work of His devoted followers. His words have been translated into more languages than those of any other person. Many of the earliest universities in Europe and America were founded by His followers. In many parts of the world, medicine and charitable work were advanced by those who embraced His teachings. He has inspired countless painters, sculptors, poets, filmmakers, and musicians. Many composers in the Western musical tradition were also influenced by Jesus. In the next video, we will see that Julius Weissenborn likewise composed music in His honor.
